In a 6-3 ruling that was split along ideological lines and is typical of the Trump Supreme Court, the justices have issued a ruling to allow the gutting of the Department of Education to go forward under the auspices of educating-hating department head Linda E. McMahon. This means that the jobs of as many as 1400 employees are likely to be terminated in the near future.
The decision of the nation’s highest court overturned a ruling from a District Judge in Boston who had issued a preliminary injunction that prevented Trump & Co. from the mass firing of people and effectively crippling the Department of Education.
This Supreme Court ruling is a devastating blow for the future of education in the United States as the Trump administration continues onward towards the declared goal of eventually shutting the Department of Education down entirely and returning the role of overseeing the education of the nation’s future leaders, to each of the individual states.
If such a tragedy eventually occurs chaos will ensue in the nation’s schools as openly racist, bigoted and DEI-hating school boards across the heartland and elsewhere, will seek to implement race-blind curriculum that will greatly devalue the contributions of non-white historical figures.
The contributions of other important historical figures who lived their lives outside of the so-called mainstream will also suffer the same fate.
Then there’s the book banning that is already in high gear in some places in the country, and with the shutdown of the Department of Education, it is easy to imagine how many more hundreds of books will be banned in the backwaters of America, isolating millions of impressionable young minds from information about the true cultural diversity of this great nation.
