The still linked – but not for long – NBC/MSNBC media conglomerate must believe that non-white people are a problem in this moment in our nation’s history where the law-defying and jerk POTUS is adamant that DEI is bad for business.
It can be forgiven in believing that the left-leaning MSNBC, especially, wouldn’t go that route.
Here are the names of the non-white hosts on MSNBC that are leaving or being shifted from prominent roles at the network: Joy Reid, Alex, Wagner, Katie Phang, Jonathan Capehart, Ayman Mohyeldin and over at NBC, there’s the coming Lester Holt departure in early summer.
To be fair, Lester has had that very noticeable 1,000-yard stare in his eyes for a while now, especially on election night coverage where he seems to be a bit too low energy and with a demeanor that seems to suggest to the audience, “what am I doing, and why am I still here?”
That’s strictly an impression, and fair or not, only Lester Holt knows for sure.
He’s had a good run, thought. But nothing lasts forever. Perhaps it is time for him to move on from the hornet’s nest of network television.
Joy Reid has been fired outright and is not getting reassigned.
She’s been a lightning rod of controversy and a credibility leak at MSNBC for a while, even if she and her fawning colleagues are blind to it. They seem to have forgiven the fired host for the ugly blog writing scandal in her past. There are lot of people out there in the audience across the country with the strong impression that Reid is a liar and hypocrite of the worst sort and is too anti-white.
A simple internet search of social media will reveal how divided public opinion is on the woman.
Whatever. Beloved in some corners, reviled in others, her voice has been silenced for now, as she will be without a mainstream media platform to voice her strong opinions about this nation’s treatment of American Blacks and other people of color.
The trio of Symone Sanders, Michael Steele and Alicia Menendez will transfer their weekend show to weekdays and will be given her 7:00 pm time slot.
So that’s something for those raging that MSNBC’s actions have more than a faint hint of a DEI-adjustment protocol in this era of the Trump’s administration scrutiny and ridicule of all things that threaten the dominance of America’s Caucasian population.
Rachel Maddow had plenty to say about the removal of her colleagues and friends. She takes her own network to task for it too. – A bold move but this kind of thing has an expiration date and is a liberty that can’t be exercised too often.
Even the towering former Rhodes Scholar is not invulnerable to a take down.
Rachel Maddow in her own words…
