As discomforting as it is to admit, Donald J. Trump is the guy in the White House right now. He’s brought along a tremendous amount of cultural baggage to begin his second term. The big orange cheeseburger loves to divide and rile things up along purely racial lines.
Or social class lines. Or economic lines.
That’s another story….
But racial animus in this country is as old as the nation, itself. As today’s comic illustrates all too well.
Perception is everything.
You’re forgiven if at first glance you thought that today’s comic was merely about some grubby old white dude with his black side-piece. Naw man, that’s his daughter!
She’s looking all well-educated, respectable and kinda’ churchy, too.
Pops must have done okay, by her. But so did the late segregationist Senator Strom Thurmond, with his black love child. A woman who, despite her ignoble background, became successful in life.
The despicable racist old man who was her father, never even publicly acknowledged her, as his actual family relation. – So, that’s not saying much.
But in 1980, as the special interest group hating Ronald Reagan came to Washington, as in today’s volatile world. It would be wise for father and daughter, no matter the finer details of their relationship, to remain vigilant and alert as they go on living and enjoying life.
Don’t let the haters get you down. – Ever.
